Introduction
When your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is reset, you need to log in and re-enable 2FA to protect your Ledgy account. This process involves logging in with your email and password, setting up 2FA using an authenticator app, and securely storing your recovery code. If you previously used an alternative login method like "Login with Google," you may need to remove it before the 2FA setup prompt appears. This guide walks you through logging in after a reset, re-enabling 2FA securely, and best practices for storing your recovery code.
When your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is reset, it is essential to follow secure steps to log in and re-enable 2FA to protect your account. This guide provides detailed instructions to help you through the process.
Step 1: Logging In After a 2FA Reset
Go to app.ledgy.com and user your email and password to log in to your Ledgy account.
Step 2: Re-Enabling 2FA Securely
Once logged in, you will be prompted to enable 2FA.
Use an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Duo, to scan the QR code provided.
Enter the 6-digit code provided by your authenticator app in Ledgy's 2FA setup window. Be speedy as this code will regenerate again after a few seconds. It is important that the code you enter the window matches the code on the app.
Securely store the recovery code displayed during the setup process. This code is crucial for regaining access to your account if you lose access to your authenticator app.
Step 3: Addressing Scenarios Where 2FA Setup Is Not Prompted
In some cases, you may not be prompted to set up 2FA after a reset. This can happen if you previously used an alternative login method, such as "Login with Google". If you want to use Ledgy's 2FA as your authentication method, you can update this in-app via account settings.
Navigate to your Ledgy account settings.
Open the Login settings section.
Remove the alternative login method (e.g., Google authentication/sign-in option).
Log out of your account.
Log back in using your email and password.
You should now be prompted to set up 2FA. Follow the steps outlined in Step 2 to complete the setup.
Note: Removing an alternative login method means you will need to use your email and password for future logins, along with 2FA once it is configured.
Best Practices for Recovery Code Storage
Store your recovery code in a secure location, such as a password manager or a physical safe.
Avoid saving the recovery code in easily accessible or insecure locations, such as plain text files on your computer.
By following these steps, you can ensure your account remains secure after a 2FA reset. If you encounter any issues, contact Ledgy support for further assistance.
