Introduction
Ledgy Agent is the AI assistant built directly into your Ledgy workspace. It lets you ask questions about your equity data in plain language, get instant answers and charts, and with your approval even have it make certain changes for you.
Looking to connect an external AI tool such as Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT to your Ledgy data instead? That is a separate integration called Ledgy MCP.
How to open Ledgy Agent
There are two ways to start a conversation with Ledgy Agent:
Option 1: From the sidebar
Log in to Ledgy and go to your company workspace
Click Ask Ledgy Agent at the top of the left-hand sidebar
The Ledgy Agent chat opens. If Ledgy Agent is not turned on for your company yet, you will see the Agent page with example prompts and a button to turn it on - see If Ledgy Agent is not turned on yet below
Option 2: From the command bar
Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K on Windows) to open the command bar from anywhere in Ledgy
Type your question directly, or search for Agent and open it
If you typed a question, select Ask Ledgy Agent to send it straight into a new chat
If you don't see Ask Ledgy Agent in your sidebar, your company may have chosen to hide it for now. Ask a colleague who manages your company's AI settings.
Who can use Ledgy Agent
You can chat with Ledgy Agent when all of the following apply:
Your company's plan includes it - Ledgy Agent is included in the Scale and Enterprise plans.
It is turned on for your company - Ledgy Agent is never turned on automatically. Someone with the Manage AI settings permission has to turn it on in the company's AI settings. See How do I manage AI settings in Ledgy?
You have a standard role - Ledgy Agent is available to Owners, Admins, and Viewers on a company. It is not yet available to collaborators with a custom role.
If Ledgy Agent is not turned on yet
You can still open the Agent page from the sidebar before Ledgy Agent is turned on. You will see example prompts and a button at the bottom of the page. What the button does depends on your situation:
Your situation | What you see and can do |
Your company's plan does not include Ledgy Agent | Clicking the button or an example prompt shows the plans that include Ledgy Agent, so you can upgrade. |
Ledgy Agent is off and you have the Manage AI settings permission | Click Turn on Ledgy Agent. This opens the AI settings, where you can switch Ledgy Agent on. You will be asked to confirm the beta terms before it is turned on. |
Ledgy Agent is off and you don't have permission to change AI settings | Click Ask to turn on. You will see a list of colleagues who can turn it on, with their email addresses, so you can contact them. |
You are a collaborator with a custom role | You will see the message "Ledgy Agent isn't available for your role." |
Hiding Ledgy Agent from the sidebar
If your company is not ready to introduce Ledgy Agent yet, users with the Manage AI settings permission can hide the Ask Ledgy Agent entry from the sidebar:
Go to Company Settings and find the AI settings card
Click the pencil (edit) icon
With Ledgy Agent switched off, turn on Hide Ledgy Agent from the sidebar
Click Save
This option is only shown while Ledgy Agent is switched off.
What you can ask Ledgy Agent
Ledgy Agent understands natural-language questions about your company's equity data.
As the Ledgy Agent’s capabilities evolve, the easiest way to stay updated on what it can do for you is to ask, “What can you help me with?” You can also cycle through the example prompts on the Agent page for ideas.
Here are some examples of what it can help with:
Understand your ownership and dilution
"What is our fully diluted ownership breakdown today?"
"How much of our option pool is still available?"
"How has our diluted ownership changed over the last 12 months?"
Filter stakeholders by their holdings
"Who owns more than 4% of the company?"
"Who holds shares today?"
"Which stakeholders hold shares but have no outstanding grants?"
"Who owns more than 1% on a fully diluted basis as of 31 December 2025?"
Check vesting and grants
"How many options has [stakeholder] vested so far?"
"Which grants have a performance condition attached, and what are they?"
"Show me all grants that vested last quarter"
Look up stakeholders
"Show me [stakeholder]'s profile and current holdings"
"Which stakeholders joined in the last 6 months?"
Search transactions
"Find all transfers involving [investor name]"
"Show me the details of transaction [ID]"
Review share classes and terms
"What is the liquidation preference on our Series A shares?"
"List our share classes and their voting rights"
Check signatures and offboarding
"Which signature requests are still outstanding?"
"What does our offboarding configuration look like for leavers?"
Run quick calculations
"If we issue 50,000 new options, what is the dilution impact?"
Ledgy Agent can also turn its answers into charts directly in the chat, and it keeps a history of your past conversations so you can pick up where you left off. You can delete chats you no longer need - see Managing your chat history below.
Managing your chat history
Your past conversations with Ledgy Agent are listed in the Chat history sidebar. To open it, click the sidebar icon in the Ledgy Agent chat.
How to delete a chat
Open Chat history
Hover over the chat you want to delete and click the ⋮ (Chat actions) menu next to it
Click Delete
A window asks you to confirm: Delete "[chat name]"? It will be removed from your history and you won't be able to restore it or view it again. Click Delete chat
You'll see a Chat deleted message. If you were viewing that chat, a new empty chat opens.
Deleting a chat can't be undone. The chat is removed from your history, you can't restore it or view it again, and Ledgy Agent no longer uses it.
Actions Ledgy Agent can take for you
Beyond answering questions, Ledgy Agent can also make certain changes in Ledgy on your behalf, such as:
Creating or editing a stakeholder record
Inviting a stakeholder
Creating a new share class
Setting up a custom field
Publishing a signature request draft
Offboarding a stakeholder
Creating a grant (rolling out gradually)
Nothing happens automatically. Whenever Ledgy Agent proposes a change like this, it shows you an approval card summarising exactly what it wants to do. Nothing is created, edited, or published in Ledgy until you click Approve. If you click Deny, or simply don't respond, no change is made.
Ledgy Agent respects your permissions
Ledgy Agent only has access to the data your Ledgy role already allows. If your access is limited to a specific group of stakeholders, Ledgy Agent's answers are limited the same way - it cannot show you, or act on, data you couldn't otherwise see in Ledgy.
Good to know during the beta
Ledgy Agent can make mistakes - always verify important numbers before relying on them, for example before making a decision or reporting to your board
Not legal or tax advice - use Ledgy Agent's answers as a starting point, not as professional advice
Capabilities are still expanding - more questions and actions are being added throughout the beta
Filters apply to a single date - questions like "Who owns more than X%?" are answered for one specific date (today, unless you name a date). Questions about how holdings changed over a period are answered without the filter, so they can take longer, and the results are worth double-checking
How to share feedback about Ledgy Agent
There is no wrong way to share feedback during the beta. Even a short note is useful.
Built-in feedback tool - Use the feedback buttons inside the agent and add a short comment while the feedback is still fresh
