Introduction

When you're ready to sell shares in your company, Ledgy provides a direct way to create market orders. A market order is an instruction to sell your shares immediately at the best available price. This guide explains how to navigate the selling process through Ledgy's platform.

Prerequisites

Before you can sell your shares:

  • Your company must be public with trading enabled.

  • You must have shares available to sell.

  • No blackout periods are in place for your company.

  • You have accepted the terms and conditions when you were first invited to Ledgy.

  • You have entered your tax information in Settings > Personal details


How to Sell Your Shares

Step 1: Access the Sell Feature

  1. Log into your Ledgy account

  2. Navigate to your dashboard

  3. Find your available shares

  4. Click on "Sell Shares" to begin the process

Step 2: Specify Your Sale Details

  1. Choose how many shares you want to sell:

    • Sell all shares

    • Specify a specific quantity

  2. Review the current share price and estimated proceeds

  3. Understand the fees that will be applied:

    • Trading fees

    • Currency conversion fees (if applicable)

    • Bank transfer fees

Step 3: Add Your Bank Details

  • Provide your bank account information where you want to receive the proceeds.

  • Ensure your bank details are accurate to avoid payment delays.

  • Note that your bank currency and transfer type determine your payment fees (currency conversion and bank transfer fees).

Step 4: Review and Confirm

  1. Review all sale details:

    • Number of shares to sell

    • Estimated proceeds

    • Total fees

    • Net amount you'll receive

  2. Read and accept the market order disclaimer.

  3. Submit your sell order.

Important Information About Market Orders

  • Market orders are processed during trading hours.

  • Orders are typically filled quickly, but timing can vary based on market conditions.

  • You'll receive confirmation on your selling card in your dashboard once your order is fulfilled.

  • The final sale price may differ from the estimated price shown when placing your order.
