How do I request my share sale contract or execution note?

Request the contract or execution note for shares you have sold — what to include in your request and where to send it.

Written by Frances Agoncillo

Introduction

After you sell shares, you may need written confirmation of the sale — a share sale contract or an execution note — for your own records, for your tax return, or for your adviser. These documents are not generated automatically in your Ledgy dashboard, so you need to request them. This article shows you exactly what to send and where, so you receive the right document first time and avoid back-and-forth with our team.

How to request your document

There are two ways to raise your request. Use Support Chat if you can see it — it is the fastest route.

Option 1: Support Chat

If Support Chat is available to you, open it from your Ledgy account and send us a message with the following details:

  • Your name

  • Portfolio company name — the company whose shares you sold

  • Number of shares sold

Option 2: Email

If Support Chat is not available to you, send us an email instead.

  1. Write an email with the subject line: Share Sale Contract Request | [Your Name] | [Portfolio Company Name]

    1. Replace [Your Name] with your name

    2. Replace [Portfolio Company Name] with the company whose shares you sold

  2. In the body of the email, include the following information:

    1. Your name:

    2. Portfolio company name:

    3. Number of shares sold:

  3. Send the completed email to [email protected].

Note: Please make sure all three details are complete and correct. Missing information is the most common reason a request takes longer than it needs to, because our team has to come back to you before they can start.

What happens next

Our team will check your request against the sale recorded for your holding and send your document back to you by email. If anything in your request does not match our records, we will contact you to confirm the details before we issue the document.

Frequently Asked Questions

I sold shares on more than one occasion. Do I need to request each one separately?

No. You can raise a single request and list each sale separately, giving the number of shares sold for each one. This helps us make sure you receive a document for every sale.

I hold shares in more than one portfolio company. What should I do?

Please raise a separate request for each portfolio company. This keeps each request tied to the right company and helps us respond faster.

I am not sure exactly how many shares I sold. Can I still request the document?

Yes. Tell us what you do know — for example the approximate number of shares and the date of the sale — and our team will confirm the details with you.

I have a question about the document I received. Who do I contact?

Reply directly to the email or chat conversation where you received it, and the same team will pick it up.
